All facility data on BetterCareSearch comes directly from the CMS Provider Data Catalog. We sync our database monthly when CMS publishes new data.
- Data looks wrong on our site
- First, cross-check the facility's current record directly at data.cms.gov. If it matches what we show, the discrepancy is in the CMS source.
- CMS data is incorrect
- Errors in the underlying CMS dataset must be disputed directly with CMS. Facilities can contact their regional CMS office or Medicare Care Compare to initiate a correction.
- Our site shows something different from CMS
- This is what we want to hear — it likely means a sync issue or a data transformation bug on our end. Contact us with the facility name, the field in question, and the value you see on both sites.
- Update timeline
- Once a correction is confirmed, it will appear on BetterCareSearch within our next monthly sync cycle.
